When I wrote my last article on sun protection (I highly recommend that you read it first and then read this one if you haven't read it), I searched for the best SPF creams in the world. I bought quite a lot of them, over 30 pieces, well I emptied my wallet a lot, I tested all of them for more than two months and I can finally share my feedback and recommendations with you.

I bought and tested only those products that I thought were worthy of consideration, ie with safe sunscreens: mineral or with European recognized safe chemical SPF filters. SPF creams of dubious safety with chemical filters such as (oxybenzone, homosalate, avobenzone, octocrylene, octixonate, etc.) and mineral nano filters, I have not tested and I simply do not see the need to even try them, because I do not want it to harm my health in any way. I do not recommend the use of such creams to my clients, friends and family members for the reasons listed in this previous article of mine.

This article will always be updated when I test new SPF creams, I am currently still on order and waiting for several SPF creams. I also want to point out that I tested only selected products from certain brands, if I rated a product well, it certainly does not mean that all other sun products of that brand will be good. I have tried and evaluated some SPF creams that I found worthy of attention, this article will be updated soon when I try new SPF products. My goal is to find the best SPF creams in the world and tell you about them, I really don't care if we have them for sale or not. As always, I want to share honest recommendations with you. I evaluated all the tools in a ten-point system, so that it would be easier for you to understand which ones I liked the most.

When it comes to SPF sun protection, I would recommend everyone to have not one, but several products with SPF:

1. A colorless SPF cream that you will use before the makeup base, as well as on the neck and décolleté area or hands (SPF cream with a tint can stain clothes); We apply the cream to all open areas, by the way, let's remember that the signs of aging are most likely to be seen on the hands and neck 
2. SPF cream with a shade, for those who do not use or do not want to use a make-up base or on days when you want to paint. In that case, I would suggest using something with SPF that gives you a slight tint, conceals the imperfections a bit and you don't need to put any powder on top. But we only use this tool on the face!
3. A convenient tool for renewing SPF during the day, since SPF needs to be renewed every 2 hours. This is very convenient so that you don't have to clean your face every few hours and reapply SPF cream, I would suggest using loose or compact mineral SPF powders (at the end of this article you will also find their recommendations).
4. For SPF body, especially for the summer season, choose products that are colorless, do not bleach the body and have a capacity of at least 100 ml.

I. Mineral SPF creams that I have tried and which I think should be most suitable for dry and normal skin:

1. COLORESCIENCE SUNFORGETTABLE® mineral sunscreen CLASSIC SPF 50, 55 ml

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide), SPF50.
Color : light pink shade, looks colorless on the skin.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : once absorbed into the skin, it gives a healthy shine/moisturizes.

Best suited for : dry, normal and combination skin. Oily skin may find it too hydrating.
Advantages : Moisturizing SPF cream with pleasant consistency and creamy texture. Odorless. Almost does not whiten the face (may not be suitable for owners of very dark skin).
Cons : I didn't find it :)

My rating : 10 out of 10. For me personally, one of the best SPF creams I've tried. I enjoy using it, my skin feels great, it doesn't irritate me at all. Moisturizes the skin, not too greasy. We will have them on sale at the end of June.

2. SUZANOBAGIMD Physical Defense Broad Spectrum Mineral Sunscreen, SPF 40, 96 ml. (White color)

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF40.
Color : white.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : after being absorbed into the skin, it is very shiny.

Best suited : The manufacturer says that it is suitable for all skin types, but I think it is more suitable for very dry skin. Because the product is really very moisturizing and shiny on the face.
Advantages : SPF cream with good composition, large capacity.
Cons : It lightens the skin a bit, it's quite oily, so not everyone will like it.
My rating : 8 out of 10. The cream is good, odorless, a large amount of packaging, I think it is best suited for dry skin. I would not recommend it to owners of combination and oily skin. Since it has a large capacity, it can also be used on the body if you are not afraid that it might lighten the body a bit.

3. Cocosolis natural sunscreen lotion, SPF50, 100 ml

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide) , SPF50.

Best for : Although the product is intended for the face and body, I would recommend using it only on the body. I wouldn't use it for my face. I think it would be best for owners of dry skin.

Color : gray-white shade.

Fragrance : Contains no "perfume" but has this natural kind of scent. The manufacturer writes that cocoa.
Effect : shines like oil.
Advantages : I liked it because of the good and natural composition.

Cons : White-gray consistency cream/oil. It is not always easy to distribute. Visible on skin/brightens skin.

My rating : 8 out of 10. I liked the composition, but the product itself is quite strange, not everyone will like it. It does not contain silicone, but contains a lot of natural oils.

4. ALUMIER MD Sheer Hydration Broad Spectrum SPF 40 (Untinted), 60 ml.

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF40.
Color : white, but colorless on the skin.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : moisturizes/skin glows.

Best for : Best for dry, normal and combination skin.

Advantages : Pleasant consistency, creamy texture SPF cream, 100% mineral. Provides moisture to the face. It does not leave a white cast on the face, it glows beautifully, it moisturizes.

Cons : It is difficult to purchase Alumier products, only by ordering through a beautician. But we will have them on sale at our place, when we have them - I will inform you.

My rating : 10 out of 10. One of the best creams I've tried, I really liked it.

5. BLUE LIZARD Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen with Zinc Oxide, SPF 50+, 148 ml.

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF50.
Color : white.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : shines when absorbed into the skin.

Best for : Best for dry, normal and combination skin.

Advantages : Good composition, large capacity.

Cons : I didn't like that it whitens the skin. It turned out to be quite heavy and greasy, it is more difficult to distribute.
My rating : 7 out of 10 for this product because it whitens. The brand itself is very well regarded in Australia, heard around the world and I believe they have better products.

6. Mineral Fusion Facial Moisturizer, SPF 40, 96 ml.

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF40.
Color : white, transparent on the skin.
Smell : smells like herbs.
Effect : shines when absorbed into the skin.

Best for : Best for dry and normal skin.

Advantages : I liked the skin moisturizing effect and because of its organic composition.

Disadvantages : Biški appeared to have a strange consistency (you always need to shake it before use) and of course you need to get used to the natural smell of herbs.
My rating : 8 out of 10.

7. PHYT'S ORGANIC SUN CREAM FOR FACE AND BODY (SPF 50), 100 ML.

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF50.
Color : white but colorless on skin (even my husband uses it, it's really colorless :))
Fragrance : smells like natural oils.
Effect : shines when absorbed into the skin.

Best suited for : using on the face if your skin is dry, normal or mature, but if you have combination or oily skin it may be too oily. Perfect for everyone's body.

Pros : Love it for its organic composition, large capacity, of course, self-degrading packaging and the fact that it does not bleach the skin at all! The most perfect SPF I have found for the whole body and the whole family, big package, good price.

Cons : I didn't find any cons except that it might be too oily for those who want a lighter SPF face cream.
My Rating : 10 out of 10. My discovery last summer and I'm so happy that after trying countless new SPF creams, it still remains one of my favorite SPF creams. If you want a lighter SPF for your face, I would recommend choosing it as an SPF cream for the body, because you will really like it, and choose something else for your face. We have these creams on sale both in our e-shop and in our studio in Vilnius and Kaunas.

8. EltaMD UV Active Broad-Spectrum SPF 50+, 85 ml.

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF50.
Color : white.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : shines when absorbed into the skin.

Best for : Best for dry, normal, combination skin. For athletes, children, who like thicker SPF creams and are not afraid that they will whiten the skin.

Advantages : Good composition.

Cons : I didn't like that it whitens the skin. It turned out to be quite heavy and greasy. Very difficult to spread on the skin.
My rating : 7 out of 10 for this particular product because it is whitening and hard to spread on the skin. The brand itself is very well regarded, they have other SPF creams, but several of them are combined with chemical (bad) sunscreens, so don't be fooled.

9. ILIA "SUPER SKIN" MAKE-UP BASE – SERUM WITH COLOR AND SPF40 PROTECTION, 30 ML

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide), SPF40.
Color : There are many shades, everyone can find the perfect one for them.
Smell : There is no "perfume", but there is a specific natural smell of the product, which I had to get used to at first, now I can't smell it at all.
Effect : very shiny.

Best for : Best for dry, normal facial skin. If you have oily skin, you may not like it.

Pros : Love it for its perfect moisturizing organic formula, and the fact that it's silicone-free, fragrance-free, oil-free, 100% mineral. The product can be used as an SPF for the face or as a base for light concealing makeup.

Cons : If you have a sensitive sense of smell like mine, you will have to get used to the natural smell at first :)
My assessment : 10 out of 10. I think this is a "must have" tool for every woman for the summer, especially when you don't want to paint a lot, because the tool easily masks and protects the skin not only from sunlight, but also nourishes the skin, contains a lot of squalane, nacinamide , aloe, hyaluronic acid. We have it on sale.

10. SUZANOBAGIMD Physical Defense Broad Spectrum Mineral Sunscreen, SPF 50, 96.3 ml.

Protection : Mineral filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF50.
Color : light powder color.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : very shiny.

Best for : I think it's best for very dry skin. The manufacturer says that the product is suitable for all skin types, but it seems to me that owners of combination and oily skin may not like the rather strong shine.

Advantages : Slightly masks and evens out the complexion. SPF cream with good composition. A large amount of cream.
Cons : The consistency of the cream may be heavy, so not everyone will like it. Applying a small amount absorbs very nicely and looks great on the skin, applying a larger amount is more difficult.
My rating : 9 out of 10. The cream is good, odorless, large amount of packaging, I think it is best for dry skin. I would not recommend it to owners of combination and oily skin. It reminds me of "ILIA super skin" with its glowing effect, but a larger amount of the product on the face is more difficult to distribute. I tried it on my body, I liked that it doesn't lighten the skin, so I think it could be another option for body protection. I think it might be a great SPF for the body.

 

11. COLORESCIENCE SUNFORGETTABLE® mineral sun protection FLEX SPF 50, 55 ml

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide) , SPF50.

Best suited : the manufacturer says it will suit all skin types, but I think it's best for dry, normal and combination skin.

Color : white, but when spread on the skin, it adapts to the skin and turns into a light, luminous makeup base.

Smell : odorless.

Effect : Nice glowing effect, but not shiny.
Pros : I think this product can sometimes stand in for a very light BB cream or foundation. Provides natural camouflage, looks amazing on the skin. Adapts to skin tone. There are several shades ("fair", "medium"). The "Fair" color is VERY light and would only suit very fair skin owners (too light for me), the "Medium" color is suitable for medium-toned and tanned (it works for me when I'm self-tanned :)).

Cons : Could be another intermediate color option.
My rating : 10 out of 10, I really liked the tool. The product is white at first and turns into a light powder on the skin. Nice product when you don't want to paint. We have it on sale.

12. "Cotz" flawless complexion SPF 50 tinted, 70 ml.

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide) , SPF50.
Best for : Best for dry and normal facial skin.
Color : powdery, but completely colorless on the skin.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : A beautiful glowing effect.
Advantages : Spreads very nicely and easily on the skin, feels good on the face. Does not whiten the face.

Cons : Only available in the US, they don't plan to come to Europe yet (I know because I asked them :))
My assessment : I liked the effect 10 out of 10, the composition could be better. I think the product is only for owners of dry skin.

13. "Biossance" Squalane + Zinc sheer mineral sunscreen SPF30, 50-100 ml.

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide) , SPF30.
Best suited : I think it's best suited for dry and normal skin, although the manufacturer says it's suitable for all skin types.

Color : white, but colorless on the skin.
Scent : Not a "perfume" but this very mild and non-irritating natural scent of the product.
Effect : Glowing effect.
Advantages : The composition contains a lot of squalane, so it deeply moisturizes the skin of the face, leaving it glowing. Does not whiten the face.

Cons : It turned out to be a bit greasy (because of the squalane in the composition), so I think it's only for very dry and normal skin that needs maximum moisture.
My rating : 9 out of 10. I think the product is only suitable for owners of very dry skin.

 

14. "Murad" City skin age defense broad spectrum SPF 50,

 Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) , SPF50.

Best for : All skin types, but especially dry, normal and combination skin.

Color : creamy, but colorless on the skin.
Smell : Not a "perfume" but there is this very strong and annoying smell of the product. I was actually very surprised when I read that it should be odorless. After putting the product on, I immediately ran to the bathroom because the smell didn't suit me very much, and I immediately started getting a headache and nausea (you know how sensitive I am to smells, and this one was simply unbearable for me).

Effect : Glowing effect.
Advantages : Well-composed mineral SPF cream that almost does not whiten the face.

Cons : strong and annoying smell, which for me personally "killed" all the pluses of the product. Quite a price. I would never want to try it again :)
My rating : 7 out of 10.

15. "Drunk Elephant" Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense, SPF30, 90 ml

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide) , SPF30.
Best for : Best for dry and normal skin, although the manufacturer says it's suitable for all skin types.

Color : white, slightly whitens the face.
Fragrance : No "perfume", neutral scent.

Effect : Glowing effect.
Advantages : Mineral SPF cream with a very good composition.

Cons : I didn't like the consistency of the cream (so strange) and the inconvenient packaging. The cream whitens the face. It turned out to be quite heavy and greasy.
My rating : 7 out of 10. I'm not impressed with either of their SPF creams (I've tried both).

16. SkinCeuticals Physical UV Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen, 50 ml

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF30.
Best for : dry, normal, combination skin.
Color : white, but almost transparent on the skin, can lighten tanned skin very minimally.
Smell : odorless.

Effect : moisturizing effect.
Advantages : SPF cream with a pleasant consistency and creamy texture. The skin feels moisturized. Light, does not feel on the skin.

Cons : Could use SPF50.
My assessment : 10/10, nice SPF cream, it's a pity that it only protects with SPF30.

II. Mineral SPF creams I've tried that I think should be more suitable for combination and oily skin:

1. COOLA mineral face protection (SPF30), 50 ml.

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide) , SPF30.

Best suited for : normal, combination and oily facial skin.
Color : A light beige shade, but when applied on the skin it looks quite transparent.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : Full matte effect.
Advantages : Spreads easily on the skin, predicts the face. Light texture. It does not bleach and the product is not visible on the face. I think it could even be a great daily SPF for men, because they want to be invisible and shiny :)

Cons : The product does everything it promises :)

My rating : 10 out of 10. I think it could be used as a make-up base, the product fills the pores and defines the face. Be careful, don't be fooled, because there are those who sell non-originals. I tried another very similar product from COOLA with the cucumber label, I didn't like them because they whiten the face. We have it for sale.

2. COLORESCIENCE SUNFORGETTABLE® mineral sunscreen with tint (MATTE) SPF 50, 55 ml

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide) , SPF50.

Best suited for : normal, combination and oily facial skin. Although the manufacturer says that it was specially formulated for oily skin, it is suitable even for my dry skin 
Color : Medium powder shade, when applied on the skin it looks like a light BB cream with a shade, it masks a little. Too bad there's only one color.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : semi-matte effect (healthy skin effect)
Pros : Well formulated, unique face cream with a tint, it really reminds me of a very light BB cream. Although it is meant for owners of oily skin, I like its effect, I use it on my face with a lot of moisture and I don't set my face with dry powder.

Cons : It's a shame that there is only one color, there could be two. Not suitable for owners of very light skin.
My rating : 10 out of 10. We have it on sale.

3. Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen Tinted Face BB Cream SPF 50, 89 ml.

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) , SPF50.
Best suited for : normal, combination and oily facial skin.

Color : Medium powder shade, applied on the skin it looks like a light BB cream with a shade, very minimal masking. In Lithuania, there is only one medium color that is suitable for tanned girls.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : Very matte effect.
Advantages : Gives the face mattness and a light shade. I think those looking for a very matte spf cream with a tint will really like it. I recommend it for tanned girls, it's too dark for me. For owners of fair skin, I recommend the COOLA SPF product.

Cons : Not suitable for owners of fair skin.
My rating : 9 out of 10. We have it on sale.

4. NOURI Mineral Defense Sunscreen Face SPF30, 50 ml.

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide) , SPF30.
Best suited for : I think it is best suited for oily face skin. Not suitable for drier and dehydrated skin.

Color : very light sand shade, does not bleach the face. Maybe it could whiten only more tanned skins.

Smell : odorless.
Effect : Very matte effect.
Advantages : Very good composition. Makes the face matte.

Cons : Quite viscous and heavy consistency, so not everyone will like it. Feels on the skin.

My rating : 8 out of 10. I really liked the composition, but the product itself has a rather heavy texture, not everyone will like it. Didn't like how it felt on the skin. I tried both shepherds from Nouri, the principle is the same (one consistency is a bit lighter, the other is very heavy).

5. AlumierMD Clear Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 42, 60 ml.

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) , SPF42.
Best suited for : combination and oily facial skin.
Color : white, but it looks quite transparent when applied to the skin.
Smell : odorless.
Effect : semi-matte effect.
Advantages : Spreads easily on the skin. Makes the face matte. Does not whiten the face.

Cons : It is difficult to get products, only by ordering through a beautician.
My assessment : I really liked the product and the effect 10 out of 10. We will have Alumier SPF products in our store soon.

6. Omorovicza Mineral UV Shield SPF 30, 100 ml.

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) , SPF30.
Best for : All skin types, but I think it would work best for normal, combination and oily skin types.
Color : white, but it looks quite transparent when applied to the skin.
Fragrance : the cream is "perfumed" but has a very light herbal scent.
Effect : matte effect.
Advantages : Sun protection with a light consistency, quickly absorbed, matte effect. Does not whiten the face. Large capacity.

Cons : High price of the product (the most expensive of all tested and listed SPF creams)

My rating : 9 out of 10, for the price. Although considering the quantity of the product, the price is normal. Anyway, I liked the product because of its very light texture and matte effect.

7. PROTECTIVE DROPS FROM THE SUN "LING TITANIUM DIOXIDE SPF", 30 ML.

Protection : Mineral protection (titanium dioxide) , SPF15-45.

Best for : All skin types.

Color : white.
Smell : has no smell.
Effect : matte effect.

Benefits : A unique product, titanium dioxide concentrate that can be mixed with any product you use (cream, serum, powder). You can make the desired SPF factor (1 drop of SPF15, 2 drops of SPF30, 3 drops of SPF5), but I always add 3 or more drops because of all the evil :) The package lasts for a very long time, because you need a small amount. The nice thing is that when you don't want to put on an SPF cream, you can turn any product you use into a product with SPF.

Cons : There is nothing to cling to, because the composition of the product is only water and titanium dioxide. It can slightly but very minimally lighten the liquid powder if you drop the product into it.

My rating : 10 out of 10. Suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive or demanding skin. A universal "must have" tool. We have it for sale.

8. Exuviance professional, sheer protector sunscreen broad spectrum spf50 PA++++

Protection : Mineral protection (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide), SPF50.

Best for : All skin types.
Color : powder shade.
Smell : odorless.

Effect : A slightly glowing effect.

Advantages : SPF product with a very liquid oily consistency (although the product does not contain oils). It's nice that it slightly compares the skin tone of the face, does not whiten the face, but just gives it a shade, easy masking. Nice product color.

Cons : When I put this product on my face, I feel it and want to wash my face. Highlights skin blemishes.

My assessment : 8/10, because it highlighted the dryness of the skin and the feeling on the face as if you have applied oil.

III. Chemical or combination SPF creams I've tried:

1. SUN PROTECTION CANMAKE MERMAID SPF50+/PA ++++.

Protection : combined SPF cream with mineral and chemical filters, SPF50.
Best for : All skin types

Color : White, but appears translucent when applied to the skin. Does not whiten the face.
Smell : odorless.

Effect : semi-matte effect.
Advantages : SPF cream with a very pleasant consistency, light texture. Feels nice on the face, absorbs quickly.

Cons : I bought the product in a hurry and without fully paying attention to the composition. I really didn't like one of the chemical filters (although there are more of them, but they are all OK) - Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (Octinoxate), and it is the main one here. Considered one of the most harmful chemical filters on the list of "bad" chemical spf filters that I avoid.

My rating : 6/7 out of 10, due to the Octinoxate in the composition. If it were not there, I would evaluate the product very positively, because the consistency, coverage, and feeling are very pleasant. I would not use this cream for myself just because of this chemical filter.

2. Seventy One "Urban Feel Good" moisturizing facial fluid SPF30, 40 ml.

Protection : Chemical filters, SPF 30 (they are considered safe in Europe today).
Best for : All skin types

Color : Pink, but appears translucent when applied to the skin. Does not whiten the face.
Smell : the only one of all the spf creams I've tried that contains "parfume", this is of course not an advantage and more of a disadvantage, but it smells really good 

Effect : semi-matte effect.
Advantages : Light consistency, pleasant smell. Will appeal to those looking for a light SPF serum. Absorbs quickly. Does not whiten the face.

Cons : Could be perfume-free, chemical filters (safe in EU).

My Rating : 8/9 out of 10. Didn't like the 'perfume' added. Although otherwise I liked the product. I didn't like other mineral creams of this brand, because they whiten the face very strongly, it was enough to try it on my hand. So I tried this one with chemical filters.

3. Goldheit face serum with sun protection and infrared and blue light filters, SPF30, 50 ml.

Protection : Chemical filters, SPF 30 (they are considered safe in Europe today).
Best suited for : dry, mature and normal skin.

Color : White, but appears completely transparent when applied to the skin. Does not whiten the face at all.
Smell : no perfume, but a light specific smell.

Effect : Very luminous effect.
Advantages : Creamy consistency, highly moisturizing serum without silicone, sometimes I use it instead of day cream. Strongly moisturizes and nourishes the skin.

Cons : only that chemical filters, although safe, but I'm still in favor of mineral ones :)

My rating : 9 out of 10, however, that chemical filters. I like the product. Serum and SPF cream in one, it can safely replace daily face cream. Protects not only from UVA and UVB filters, but also from infrared rays and blue light. We have it for sale.

A unique product - special SPF protection for the eyes and concealer in one!

COLORESCIENCE TOTAL EYE® 3-IN-1 eye concealer and sun protection (SPF 35), 7 ml.

Protection : mineral SPF35 (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide)
Best suited for : All skin types. Also suitable for sensitive eyes. Also suitable for contact lens wearers.

Color : there are two colors "light" (very light for those who don't have dark eyes) and "medium" (for slightly darkened eyes - it suits me perfectly and camouflages)

Odor : has no odor.

Effect: conceals under-eyes, brightens them and protects them from sunlight. When applied to the skin, the product instantly reduces dark circles, fine lines and puffiness around the eyes.

Advantages : a unique product because it nicely masks the under-eye area and has SPF35. I liked it very much.

Cons : the only downside is the high price.

My rating : 10 out of 10. We have it on sale.

IV. My recommended products for SPF renewal during the day:

Of course, we won't start removing our makeup and reapplying SPF while we're at work. We can renew the SPF without damaging the makeup, but rather by "refreshing" it. There are quite a few tools for this: dry loose and compact mineral powders with SPF filters. I personally recommend powders with physical/mineral SPF filters. 

1. Jane Iredale Powder me day sunscreen refillable brush loose powder, SPF 30.

Protection : mineral SPF30 (titanium dioxide)
Best for : All skin types.

Color : there are two colors "nude" (for tanned) and "translucent" (for fair skins)
Fragrance : Not "perfume".

Effect: the intended skin, removes the shine of the face.
